This article is about Weapon upgrade slots. For Weapon upgrades, see Chip.

Sockets are Weapon upgrade slots. Chips are placed in sockets to give the weapon upgrades.
There are two types of socket: Advanced Sockets, and Standard Sockets. All sockets have a socket bonus, which is a applied when a chip's mark (icon) matches the mark of its socket.

Advanced Sockets

Every weapon has an advanced upgrade slot.
Advanced sockets have higher socket bonuses compared to standard slots.

Standard Sockets

Weapons of uncommon Quality have one standard upgrade slot. Weapons of subsequent qualities gives the weapon one more standard upgrade slot.
Standard sockets have small socket bonuses.

Socket Bonuses

Every socket has a mark. When a chip with the same mark is inserted into the slot, a socket bonus is applied. A weapon's socket bonuses are predetermined, but all socket marks are randomly generated. Bonuses depend on whether the socket is standard or advanced.
