Dialogue
Don't step in pig shit. / Hey there, city slicker. / Well, look who we got here. / You ain't lost, are ya?
-
- The name's Butch 'Porkchop' O'Hara.
- I'm the experienced pig farmer this side of Elan, and the only butchery you'll find in Goldenfield.
- Folks 'round here don't understand the fine art of pig rearing. But me, I've was wearing a butcher's suit since I was knee high to a piglet.
- Butchering ain't for the faint of heart. It's a dirty, bloody business. And the critters 'round here ain't your average farm animals.
- They lead rough lives, and what you pull from 'em ain't always fit for use.
- A skilled butcher, like myself, can tell at a glance which carcasses are worth the time.
- The real pros can spot the ones that lived their lives in the best conditions. Their parts are the cream of the crop.
- You could split carcasses into three groups: lower, middle, and prime. Each one needs a different set of skills and know-how.
- Don't go hacking away as soon as you find a good one. There's more than just Ribs and skin to be had.
- You got your Spine, Large Bones, Xiphoid Process, and Animal Fat. That's your bread and butter.
- But the rare ones might have Gonads, Adrenaline Bladder, Living Blood, or Eye of the Beast.
- Once, I even found an Elastic Membrane. Heard tell of a Beating Heart, but I ain't sure I believe it.
- I've got a craft bench near my house that can refine some of that common stuff into something more useful, like Cosmetic Fat or Jeweler's Bone.
- Around Goldenfield you can butcher a fair share of Wolves, Boars, and Turtles. Wolves mostly stick to the Westwind Woods.
- As for Boars, you can find them in the woods too, but also out on the Sunweave Glade and Skylight Grasslands.
- Turtles, they're everywhere if you know where to look. But don't expect to be trippin' over 'em. They ain't as common as pigs 'round a trough.
-
- How am I? Well, I'm covered in pig shit and smell like bacon grease. So I reckon I'm doing just dandy.
- Can't complain. Pigs are fed, butcher's block is clean, and I've got a cold beer waiting for me at the end of the day.
- I'm alive and kickin'. More than I can say for half of my pigs.
-
- Just a quiet cabin off the main streets. My little sanctuary in Goldenfield.
- [If not accepted A Butcher's Lesson]
- Well, now that you mention it...
- Out here, survivin' ain't just livin'. It means knowin' your way around a butcher's blade too.
- Wolves, Boars, and even Turtles, they've all got Animal Fat. In most cases.
- Take down those animals, then butcher em to collect Animal Fat. Process this fat into Cosmetic Fat on the crafting bench - ain't nothing to it.
- Wolves mostly stick to the Westwind Woods. As for Boars, you can find them in the woods too, but also out on the Sunweave Glade and Skylight Grasslands.
- Turtles? They're just about everywhere if you got the eye for it. But not all carcasses are fit for butchering though - that's a skill you'll be learning on the go.
- [A Butcher's Lesson]
- Great! Remember, hunt for Wolves, Boars or Turtles and butcher them.
- Gather Animal Fat and turn it into Cosmetic Fat at the crafting bench.
